Frank E. Landrey caddied as a young boy and parlayed his golf knowledge and skill into a full scholarship to Georgia Tech where he played golf and basketball, graduating in 1963. Frank then played golf professionally in Indiana and Florida eventually attempting to make the Senior PGA Tour.^

While serving as president of the family's food business for 31 years, he experienced both failure and success. After closing two businesses in 1977, Frank worked day and night to build sales while traveling 30 states. Then, he prepared documents that helped sell the family barbecue plant that he built and designed. Brakebush Brothers bought the business in 1996.

In 1992 businessman Frank Landrey became Coach Landrey, when he served as the Head Golf Coach at Liberty University from 1992-2004. In 2003, he was awarded Mid Atlantic Coach of the Year honors for his team's season earned NCAA Championship Regional birth that same year due to Liberty's miracle turn-around spring season.

In 2005, Coach Landrey authored a book about his experiences titled, True Tales of College Golf, which developed into a weekly radio show called, An Encouraging Word, which led to his new Audio 4 CD Album titled Coach Landrey's 12 Encouraging Word Studies.
